Warning!
Most of what is being instructed now in the typical martial arts school, self defense seminar and self defense video is...
Useless in a real street attack!
After the really 1st session he had established to me, without a doubt, that what I had been teaching my students most likely wouldn't activity under the force of real attack. This is what I learned:
- The natural effect of real aggression causes what is called an "adrenaline dump". This fear elicited high volume shot of epinephrine is normal and natural and cannot be stopped, even as by full fledged black belts.
- The effects of this "adrenaline dump" can be devastating, especially if you are not prepared for it.
- Many of the systems use joint locks and pressure points that require years of training to properly execute. Sometimes even as once they are applied properly to person who has an unusual figure of joint flexibility or a high resistance to pain, they don't work.
- Allot of what is instructed is simply fluff! It doesn't stand a chance to activity in a real street attack!
- Many techniques require years of training or are simply impossible to discover unless you are under the direct training of the master instructor. You cannot discover these properly from a video, book or seminar. They take years to perfect, even as under the supervising of an expert instructor.
The Solution!
The resolution was developing a system that contained the following benefits:
- It had to contain a minimum figure of techniques. This was necessary as research has shown that as few as a handful of techniques can be recalled once fully "adrenalized".
- It had to be simple enough to teach students in days or weeks instead of years!
- It had to be quick, effective and decisive!
- It had to be effective regardless of the body type of the attacker.
- It had to be easy to learn.
- It had to be designed to defeat a more larger and stronger attacker!
- It had to address the inevitable epinephrine dump which is the natural effect of fear elicited aggression.
- It had to address real street "situations" instead of the typical studio environment.
- Additionally it had to be direct, powerful and yet simple and straight forward enough to be instructed through video based training or through a step by step instructions with images and explanations.
